Social Science - The Continents

Hello everyone!!

Welcome to Science class!!

Remember the trip we did around our neighborhood in february? We saw a lot of things, like the church, the police station, the city hall... It was so fun!!

¿Os acordáis de la excursión que hicimos en febrero por el barrio? Vimos un montón de cosas, como la iglesia, la comisaría, el ayuntamiento... ¡Fue súper divertido!

In fact, I wish there was a way of remembering where we went, so we could repeat the trip someday...

De hecho, ojalá hubiera una forma de recordar por dónde fuimos, para poder repetir la excursión algún día...

Wait a second...There is!!

Espera un segundo...¡¡La hay!!

Look at this picture, and tell me what you see:

It's a map of our neighborhood, with the route we followed that day!!

¡Es un mapa de nuestro barrio, con la ruta que seguimos ese día!

Maps are pictures which can show small areas, like a town or a neighborhood, or large areas like the Earth.

Los mapas son dibujos que nos pueden mostrar áreas pequeñas, como una ciudad o un barrio, o áreas grandes como la Tierra.

Let's watch a video to learn the different parts of a map:

Vamos a ver un video para aprender cuáles son los elementos de un mapa:

The Earth is the planet where we live, and we may see it represented on a map...
La tierra es el planeta en el que vivimos, y podemos encontrarlo representado en un mapa...

...or as a globe.
...o en un globo terráqueo.

Globes are models of the Earth, and they show it as a sphere.
Los globos terráqueos son maquetas de la tierra, y nos la muestran como una esfera.

Now let's watch a video, before we continue with the class. Repeat the names of the continents:

That's right! The Earth is formed by 7 continents and 5 oceans.
