Natural Science - The Plants

Good morning class!

Today we are starting a new unit, and we are going to learn about another living thing:
Hoy empezamos tema nuevo, y vamos a aprender acerca de otro ser vivo:

🌱 🌳 🌿 🌻 🌵 The Plants 🌱 🌳 🌿 🌻 🌵

There are many different types of plants. We can classify plants in many ways. For example, as wild or cultivated; as trees, bushes or grasses; or by whether we can eat them or not.

Hay muchos tipos de plantas. Podemos clasificarlas de muchas formas. Por ejemplo, como silvestres o cultivadas; como árboles, hierbas o arbustos; o como comestibles o no comestibles.

Let's do a simple exercise: Read and tick the correct plant.

Vamos a hacer un ejercicio muy sencillo. Lee y marca la planta correcta.

"This plant is not wild. It’s cultivated.

We can eat it. What is it?"

Esta planta no es silvestre. Es cultivada. 

Es comestible. ¿Qué es?

It’s a tomato plant!

For example, one way we can classify trees is depending on if they lose their leaves during the year.

Por ejemplo, una forma de clasificar los árboles es dependiendo de si pierden o no las hojas durante el año.

🌲 🌲 🌲 Evergreen trees 🌲 🌲 🌲 

Evergreen trees, like the Pine tree or the Palm tree, keep their leaves during the four seasons.
Los árboles de hoja perenne, como el Pino o la Palmera, mantienen sus hojas durante las cuatro estaciones.

 🍂 🍁 🌳 Deciduous trees 🌳 🍁 🍂

Deciduous trees, like the Oak tree or the Chestnut tree, lose their leaves in autumn and winter.

Los árboles de hoja caduca, como el roble o el castaño, pierden sus hojas durante el otoño y la primavera.

Now it's time for you to draw the cycle of a deciduous tree. Use the next PDF file if you want, or draw your own trees in a separate sheet.
Ahora os toca a vosotr@s dibujar el ciclo de un árbol de hoja caduca. Usad el siguiente PDF si queréis, o dibujad vuestros propios árboles en una hoja aparte.

And the last thing I'm going to share with you before I go is a silly game where you have to take care of your own plant. Make sure you give it the exact amount of light and water, or the plant will die!
Y la última cosa que quiero compartir con vosotr@s antes de irme es un juego muy sencillo en el que tenéis que cuidar de vuestra propia planta. Aseguraros de darle la cantidad exacta de luz y agua, ¡o la planta se morirá!

Hello kids!

Today we are going to learn some things about a new Animal Class:
Hoy vamos a aprender algunas cosas acerca de una nueva Clase Animal:

The Birds

Las aves

All birds have some common characteristics:

Todas las aves tienen algunas características en común:

⏩ They are oviparous, which means that they reproduce by laying eggs that they incubate with the heat of their bodies until the little chicks hatch.

Son animales vivíparos, lo que significa que se reproducen poniendo huevos que incuban con el calor de sus cuerpos hasta que los polluelos rompen el cascarón.

⏩ Birds don´t have teeth. They have a beak, that can be very different depending on the species.

Las aves no tienen dientes. Tienen pico, que puede ser muy diferente dependiendo de la especie.

⏩ Most birds can fly, thanks to their light bones and the air sacs that are connected to their lungs.

La mayoría de las aves puede volar, gracias a sus ligeros huesos y a las bolsas de aire que están conectadas a sus pulmones.

⏩ Birds have four limbs: two wings and two legs, and their skin is covered with feathers.

Las aves tienen cuatro extremidades: dos alas y dos patas, y su piel está recubierta de plumas.
