Natural Science - Arthropods and Molluscs

Good morning class!!

Today we are going to learn about two classes of invertebrate animals. Do you remember what invertebrates are?
Hoy vamos a aprender sobre dos clases de animales invertebrados. ¿Os acordáis de lo que son los invertebrados?

That's right! 

Invertebrates are those animals which don't have a backbone. There are many types of invertebrate animals, and today we're going to learn about:
Los invertebrados son los animales que no tienen columna vertebral. Hay muchos tipos de animales invertebrados, y hoy vamos a aprender sobre:

🐜 Arthropods 🐛

As you can see, there are many different types of arthropods, but they have many things in common:

Como podéis ver, hay muchos tipos distintos de artrópodos, pero todos ellos tienen muchas cosas en común:

→ They have an external armour called exoskeleton. The exoskeleton protects their bodies.

Tienen una armadura exterior llamada exoesqueleto. El exoesqueleto protrge sus cuerpos.

→ They have a segmented body and jointed limbs. 

Tienen un cuerpo dividido en segmentos, y extremidades articuladas.

🐙 Molluscs 🐌

Molluscs also can be very different, although they have a lot of things in common too!

Los moluscos también pueden ser muy distintos, ¡aunque también tienen un montón de cosas en común!

→ They have a soft body

Tienen un cuerpo blando.

→ They are oviparous animals. They reproduce by laying eggs.

Son animales ovíparos. Se reproducen poniendo huevos.

→ Some molluscs have a hard shell to protect them from predators.

Algunos moluscos tienen conchas duras que les protegen de los depredadores.
